Festival of Brass & Voices

The Montclair Citadel Band & Songsters (Chior) of The Salvation Army performed as part of the Trinity Arts Series on Sunday, May 15th.

Acknowledged as one of The Salvation Army’s finest brass bands, this 32-instrument band has performed with luminaries including Wynton Marsalis, the Canadian Brass, and Philip Smith, principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic. Their choir, The Songsters, also performed. Our own Joe Turrin accompanied the Songsters, conducted the band in a song he composed in tribute to Princess Diana, and played his moving arrangement of Gershwin's Someone to Watch Over Me along with the band's Michael Baker on the flugelhorn.
