Trinity Lenten Opportunities

Lenten Study, Lent services

Trinity has multiple opportunities to experience Lent in a thoughtful and enriching way.

Half-Day Lenten Quiet Time – There will be a half-day Lenten Retreat at Trinity on Saturday, March 16th from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. The meditations, Bible studies, discussions and prayers will be focused on Max Lucado’s He Chose the Nails, a book about the other gifts of the Cross, such as the nails, crown of thorns, the garments given, etc., that Jesus gave us. This will be an opportunity halfway through our Lenten journeys to re-evaluate or live deeper into the spiritual “LIFE” in this important season of preparing ourselves to celebrate the awesome joy of Easter. Please contact Fr. Michael or Lana in the church office if you would like to participate in this “time out” from the busyness of the ordinary and enter into the transforming silence of the Cross.

Ecumenical Fellowship & Lenten Program – We will be meeting on Wednesday evenings at various churches to enjoy hot & hearty soup, assorted breads, and desserts followed by a Lenten Bible Program. The gatherings will begin at 6:30 pm and end at 8:00 pm. The host church schedule is:

Wednesday, March 13th – Highlands Presbyterian Church

Wednesday, March 20th – Guardian Angel RC Church

Wednesday, March 27th – Trinity Church

Wednesday, April 3rd – Archer Methodist Church

Lenten Book Group – This year we are doing something quite different from previous years – we will be journeying together with Roger Hutchison’s Under the Fig Tree, a book of “visual prayers and poems for Lent.” We will read this book individually each day during our personal prayers and devotions, and gather together at 7:30 pm on: Tuesday, March 19th and Tuesday, April 16th. Our gathering time will be an opportunity to share how the art and poems from this book have challenged and inspired us – and maybe even changed our thinking about the Lenten and Holy Week journey. If you are interested in participating in this Lenten group, please ask Fr. Michael for a book – the cost for each book is $17.
