Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Trinity has embarked on an exciting new program for children’s Sunday School: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, which is an approach to the religious formation of children, rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather at 10:00 in the "Atrium," a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials they use to help them absorb the most essential proclamations of the Christian faith. They then they join their parents at the Peace for the remainder of the Eucharist.
Children at this age are filled with WONDER and it is the goal of CGS to direct that wonder to an understanding of Jesus as the Good Shepherd and His love for all his sheep/children. It utilizes the element of discovery vs. telling and engages the child’s heart, spirit, body & mind.
This is a highly experiential program with materials that are child-sized and easy for children to work with. They can focus on what interests him or her each Sunday and work with any materials from any lesson.
